J. Kelly Hoey - Build Your Dream Network

Oh, it’s a grab bag of ???? this week, so grab a cuppa and enjoy.

  • Which agenda? (Seth’s Blog)
  • You are what you eat…and what you’re eating should friggin scare you into changing your diet. The Stanford Twin Study (Netflix)
  • $15 Billion in Five Years: What Data Tells Us About MacKenzie Scott’s Philanthropy (HBR)
  • This Is TASTE 229: Samantha Irby (podcast)
  • Art & inspiration, two good reasons to head to Brooklyn. Sound Bath for the New Moon @ The Shirley Project Space (Thursday, January 11) then the next night it’s The Shirley Salon Night @ The Shirley Project Space (Friday, January 12 ).
  • Camp Reinvention’s Ditch Overwhelm Challenge begins on Monday (as in today, my friends).
  • If time management is one of your new year’s resolutions, sign up NOW for author & time accountability/awareness/efficiency guru Laura Vanderkam’s January 2024 Time Tracking Challenge (note: the challenge runs from January 8th through January 14 – and tracking your time is the first step to becoming more efficient in managing it).
  • DO Wales 2024. Three life-changing days. Register interest for 2024 by Jan 15.
  • Lots of goodies for entrepreneurs, startup founders and biz owners in 37 Angels weekly email and take a look at this upcoming (free) workshop from The Fourth Effect: Leveraging AI to Maximize Grant Opportunities (Learn how to effectively leverage generative AI and Open Grants to find grant opportunities and non-dilutive funding).

My first concert? Tony Orlando & Dawn (ok! I was 9, and it was the 70’s and I’m still pissed that we had sh#tty seats). First concert sans parental supervision, Cheap Trick with the Pat Travers Band as the opening act (I remember this, and what I wore, which was so nerdy, as I dressed for an 8th grade teeny-bop in the school gym not a concert at the local hockey arena). First album purchased, Chic (yes, Nile Rodgers is on my celebrity sighting list, and having been a resident of NYC since 1998, I duly reined in my inner 14 year-old self from screaming ‘I LOVE YOU NILE” as I passed him on 72nd Street West as he exited the subway). So, yes, peculiar and varied musical tastes…which is a perfect interlude to:

  • Nick Cave: Loss, Yearning, Transcendence (On Being)
  • Legend: The Joni Mitchell Story (BBC)
  • Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song (Netflix)
