J. Kelly Hoey - Build Your Dream Network

Random interesting & useful ???? pulled from myriad of emails which land in my inbox.

DYK that the tango is on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity? Until recently, I did not know this. That the tango was on this list, and that such a list existed.

If you’re in Washington, DC on March 24, join Diplomatica for an intimate evening exploring the history of tango in the intimate atmosphere of the members’ area of the National Press Club with renowned tango instructor and historian Luis Angel.

The best form of investment is a paying customer….so female founders + women entrepreneurs, join AwakenHub on March 21 for Sell! Sell! Sell! a virtual gathering to share successful tips, insights and practical feedback on generating sales success and/or join the Tory Burch Foundation on March 29 for their sales-focused small business webinar How To Create Raving Fans: strategies for elevating your sales experience to increase customer retention and referrals.

March 16, Colletive[i] has another fascinating Collective[i] Forecast conversation: Nicholas Thompson, CEO of The Atlantic, former editor-in-chief of WIRED, friend to Stalin’s daughter, author, and entrepreneur, will be sharing his perspectives on where the world of innovation is headed.

Need to boost your business development efforts and/or enhance your professional networking skills? Or perhaps, you’re just in need of some CPE credits? Check out my podcast interview “Networking In A Hyper-Connected World” on LumiQ (yes, CPE credits in podcast format, how innovative is that!).

More Misc Stuff:

  • Random acts of kindness, such as opening the door for someone, well, we should all engage in more of these simple, kind acts. Why we all need to be a lot less hesitant about being kind. (The Guardian)
  • Not feeling well? Be careful when you jump to consult Dr. Google – those “remedies” or “diagnoses” with tons of likes or shares, aren’t necessarily a fact, because it seems we “humans are predisposed to mistake repetition for accuracy”. Social Media and Medical Misinformation. (Dr Jen Gunter)
  • To care about reading your audience or not to care…that’s a good question because there are times when standing on stage I (maybe you too!) begin to imagine that the audience truly thinks I’m useless, which then swirls into the horror of being naked and exposed as a fraud…antidote to short-circuit this brain chatter nonsense: How “reading your audience” goes very wrong. (Vital Voice Training)
  • Why do we take good things for granted once we have them – such as our health? Tea towels, heathcare (or not caring) and the wisdom of not getting sick from Margaret Atwood.
  • From the why you should invest in women department: Fund of Women-Run Firms Is Beating the S&P 500 Since Launching. (Bloomberg)
  • AND Big F’g Shocker…I was going to say, WTW but Big F’g Shocker seemed a more realistic depiction of my disappointment and non-amazement reaction to the women + work ambition + “Tall Poppy” research findings. Yup, new research finds almost 90 per cent of women worldwide are penalized and undermined because of their achievements at work. (Women of Influence)
