You Win Some,
You Lose Some
But You Need To Apply Edition
Picking up from last week and the idea (borrowed from entrepreneur Christine Souffrant, one of the speaker’s at the ATECH Conference): spend a weekend this Fall researching and applying for pitch competitions, grants and the like. There is money and opportunities without ties attached out there (other than a good pitch or story), so go after it.
Yes, I’ve been following the advice I dish out — and I’ve been APPLYING
. To attend this, participate in that, speak there. Some work out, some don’t. But you don’t know if you don’t get your ego out of the way and get your application on.
Three places to research or stay informed or be rather visible for opportunities:
- F6s.com (113 global contests listed the last time I checked this site for startups)
- She Source (online braintrust of female experts)
- Dreamers & Doers (this vibrant network of trailblazing women offers up gigs & opportunities galore)
October 7 is the deadline to apply to speak at IEEE Women In Engineering International Leadership Conference “Lead Beyond” 2017.
Sign up for The Women In Tech Summit mailing list so you don’t miss the call for speakers for their 2017 events in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Boston and Raleigh, NC.
A chance at $120,000 in grant prizes plus coveted 1:1 with an investor. Apply for a seat to pitch an investor — by riding in an Uber car on October 26.
This unique pitch event brought to you by The Refinery, Kauffman Foundation and Uber, is open to tech companies with female founders from all over the country (note, however the rides will be taking place in Providence, New Haven, Stamford, Baltimore, Washington DC and Kansas City). Deadline to apply is October 20th
Apply to be part of something radical — and generous.
Do you want to join a community of radically generous women who commit to support your success by opening up their vast networks and expertise, leveraging their buying power for your products and services, offering capital in the form of a low-interest loan on a five-year term, and providing one-year of world-class coaching and support? Then SheEO
is the network you’ve been waiting for!
In order to qualify for SheEO, your venture must be:
- Majority women-owned (+51%)
- Over $50K in revenue this year
- Located in one of the 2016 regions: LA, SF/Bay Area, Colorado and Canada
Deadline to apply for SheEO is October 31.
