Friends, fans, followers – what’s an influencer doing when they have a job and a life offline too? Cassidy Williams spills her daily social habits. Name: Cassidy Williams Title: Cassidy's a software engineer & developer evangelist @ Clarifai. Director of Outreach @ Hacker Fund. Glamour's 35 under 35 women changing tech. Me: Which social media/networking site is your first site of the day – and why? Cassidy: Facebook, because it's how I stay in touch with my friends and family. Me: What types of content are you drawn to or what conversations do you engage in? Cassidy: I like reading tech articles, especially web technologies.  I also really (to the point where it's a little embarrassing) enjoy the stupid corners of Twitter, where it's just a bunch of teenagers complaining about first world problems.  There's some funny people out there! In terms of conversations I engage in, I usually participate in ones about web technologies (again), and inclusion & diversity in STEM. Me: What makes social media valuable (or enjoyable) for you? Cassidy: There's 3 things I really like about it: - it's my way of communicating with the tech and hackathon community - it's how I talk with family members and friends who aren't nearby - it's amusing when I need a mental break Me: Could you give up your social networking habit if you had to? Cassidy: Yes. Me: How frequently do you post on social media? Cassidy: Multiple times per day Me: Do you use any tools / platforms to manage your social media accounts? If so, which ones? Cassidy: I use TweetDeck at work since I have multiple accounts, but outside of that, everything is just my personal account that I use on my own devices. Me: Who or What are your favorite sources of insight? Cassidy: In terms of insight into tech, I really like JavaScript Weekly, WebDesignerDepot, and scoping out Product Hunt. Me: Who or What are your favorite sources of amusement? Cassidy: I love YouTube, Vine, and Imgur.  There's this Twitter handle called @BeyonceReactions that is full of funny pictures and Vines of Beyonce reacting to funny situations.  Imgur always has random, but pretty amusing jokes and content, and my favorite channel on YouTube is communitychannel. Me: What do you use to post to social media? Cassidy: Laptop, Mobile, Desktop Me: When do you use laptop, mobile, or desktop to post to social media? Cassidy: Honestly, it just depends on where I am.  If I'm walking around and on the go, I use mobile.  At home, I use my desktop mainly, and when I'm working or at events, I use my laptop. Me: Which other social networking sites are your go-to sites? Cassidy: If I have no messages or anything important on Facebook, I then check Snapchat and Twitter.  Snapchat first (because it usually doesn't take too long), then Twitter where I scroll to see if there's any news worth seeing.  Then, I check Instagram, make sure to like most things on the feed.  Then I'll check Yik Yak (but that's usually just to see if anyone posted anything funny, if not I get off pretty quickly), and then if I'm feeling ambitious I'll check LinkedIn and Quora.  I also like looking through Imgur, Product Hunt, and Vine on occasion.  When I'm on my computer and wanting to learn something or check out cool projects, I go on GitHub.  I try to contribute code to GitHub as often as possible. Me: Where can we follow you online? Cassidy: I'm @cassidoo on Twitter and GitHub!  You can also check out my website at cassidoo.co.
