I do stuff on the Internet. Me: Which social media/networking site is your first site of the day – and why? Amy: Twitter. Quick way to catch up on anything huge that may have happened overnight and see what's going on. Me: What types of content are you drawn to or what conversations do you engage in? Amy: Lots of different things: • The latest in tech gadgets • Science fiction • Siberian Huskies • Social media stuff that's not pretentious • Journalism and the future of news media • Women in leadership • Parenting, occasionally Me: What makes social media valuable (or enjoyable) for you? Amy: The connections I'm able to make with people all over the world. The ability to find something interesting and different any time of day or night, with relatively little effort. The communal feeling when I'm watching a show I love (or hate). The connections I've made with people I grew up with and didn't really know. Me: Could you give up your social networking habit if you had to? Amy: WHY? WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD? Me: How frequently do you post on social media? Amy: Multiple times per day Me: Do you use any tools / platforms to manage your social media accounts? If so, which ones? Amy: Buffer, Pluggio, IFTTT, TweetDeck, Triberr Me: Who or What are your favorite sources of insight? A LOT more people, too. I feel like I'm leaving out lots of important people. Me: Who or What are your favorite sources of amusement? Amy: Tumblr, Reddit and live-tweeting certain shows. Me: What do you use to post to social media? Amy: Laptop, Mobile, Desktop Me: When do you use laptop, mobile, or desktop to post to social media? Amy: When I work from home, I'm on desktop. When I work in the office or attend a conference or am in the city for meetings and hole up in a coffee shop, I'm on my laptop. All other times (sometimes even when I'm home and watching TV or hanging out on weekends), on mobile. Me: Which other social networking sites are your go-to sites? Amy: Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Gmail (yes, my email is social), Instagram, Flipboard, Trove Me: Where can we follow you online? Amy: @amyvernon virtually everywhere.
