Stressing To Success
Entrepreneurship comes with a healthy (and sometimes rather unhealthy) amount of anxiety, uncertainty, stressful situations and obstacles.
Here’s how Dr. Sue Black, OBE deals with the multiple aspects of entrepreneurial stress:
Entrepreneurship is an emotional roller-coaster. How do you deal with a particularly stressful day?
It depends on what I’m doing that day, it could be any of the following: watch my favourite series on TV, go for a swim, a run or a bike ride, knit, chat to a friend or my fiancé, hang out with my 12 year old daughter and pretend that I’m still 12.
The secret to succeeding as an entrepreneur is?
Just. Keep. Going. Aka Resilience is key.
What’s the most commonly held misconception about startups?
That anyone finds it easy. It’s not.
Did you have doubts about launching your product? If yes, how did you overcome it?
I have doubts about everything all the time. Most of the time I choose not to listen to, if I listened to all my doubts I’d probably go insane.
What’s your advice for aspiring startup founders?
Find the right people to work with then get get out there and start making stuff happen!
