J. Kelly Hoey

In a January Inc.com post, I asked "will 2016 be the year consumer's shop with a purpose - a purpose that is more than a deep discount? In "Well Meaning and Meaning Well: Gifting With A Bigger Impact" I listed entrepreneur Angela Jia Kim's suggestions for purchasing with an impact. Of course, a list begets more suggestions to the original list. So here are a few additions: Fruitcycle - a social enterprise that makes locally sourced snacks - and employs women who have been formerly incarcerated, homeless or otherwise disadvantaged. Available at numerous retail locations in the District of Columbia and Virginia plus online. Rallier - an e-commerce site that is truly philanthropic; purchasing a single dress leads to the creation of school uniforms for girls in Africa.
