Innovator Insights: Julia Wojnar, Founder of Unleash Your Presence
Name: Julia Wojnar
Title: Founder & President of Unleash Your Presence
Julia Wojnar is one of those rare people who has never suffered from stage fright, sweaty pre-presentation palms or agonized over public speaking. Julia is the Founder of Unleash Your Presence where she helps entrepreneurs craft and deliver killer keynote speeches. She has honed her own speaking skills with over fifteen years of experience on stage speaking and performing, in addition to her formal training in Public Speaking and Communications from Syracuse University to Ithaca College. Julia has been featured on The Solopreneur Hour on Grant Cardone’s Whatever It Takes Network, Savvy Central Radio (a syndicate of iHeartRadio), and HelloFearless.com. Julia is also a member of Dreamers // Doers, a highly curated community of high-achieving trailblazing women who come together to support each other on their entrepreneurial paths. The community encompasses a diverse mix of female founders, women working at startups, and other female creators, change-makers, and influencers.
Me: Why are you an entrepreneur?
Julia: Growing up, I never thought that I would be an entrepreneur but when I began my business, I had the realization that to build the life of my dreams, on my own terms, meant I would need to work for myself. Those who know me well would say that I tend to march to the beat of my own drum and being an entrepreneur allows me to live a life upholding one of my core values of freedom.
Me: What problem would you like solved?
Julia: The fear of public speaking continues to be one of the most pervasive fears out there which prevents smart, capable entrepreneurs from getting their message out to the world. I started Unleash Your Presence as a way to show entrepreneurs that public speaking doesn’t have to be scary. Further, that by embracing it and learning how to craft and deliver compelling talks, they can influence their audience in a powerful way. As much as I love and embrace technology, I still believe that the spoken word continues to be one of the most powerful methods of influence and agents for change.
Me: Advice you’d wished you’d had or had followed?
Julia: Feel the fear and do it anyway.
The most surprising part about my journey in entrepreneurship thus far has been that it is also a journey of personal growth. Initially, I underestimated how much being an entrepreneur forces you to face your fears and step outside your comfort zone. I was surprised to learn how much your personal growth impacts your business growth, that you cannot have one without the other.
Me: What does success look like for you?
Julia: Right now, the major goal that I am working towards is achieving financial freedom. To me, this goal represents not only being able to provide a joyous and full lifestyle for myself, but also to be able to give back in a bigger way.
Me: Who are your heroes?
Julia: Honestly, my biggest hero has been and continues to be my mother. She has risen in her career to a position of great responsibility while juggling being a single mother of three. She has always exemplified for me what a strong, independent woman looks like and given me hope into what is possible.
Me: What is your best discovery?
Julia: The only real limits we have are those we put on ourselves. That’s not to make light of the hardships that we all face, but in the end — opportunities abound if we are willing to accept the responsibilities that come with building the life of our dreams. Napoleon Hill said “What we can conceive, we can achieve,” and I like to remind myself of that quote every time that I feel stuck to give me the motivation to find another way.
Me: What would the title of your biography be?
Julia: The Unexpected Entrepreneur
Me: What is your biggest regret?
Julia: I make a conscious effort to live life without regrets. When we know better, we do better so I choose to focus on continually learning to make better choices each day.
Me: Anything else we should know about?
