Innovator Insights: Founder & CEO of TOPRO Dannie Hetz @danniehd
Name: Dannie Hetz
Title: Founder & CEO of TOPRO Twitter: @danniehd
Dannie Hetz is out to empower top, independent professionals. Her startup TOPRO is a crowdsourced platform bringing the best professionals in our personal lives (Personal Trainer, Babysitter and Hairstylist) the visibility their talent deserves. Dannie is also a member of Dreamers // Doers, a highly curated community of high-achieving trailblazing women who come together to support each other on their entrepreneurial paths. The community encompasses a diverse mix of female founders, women working at startups, and other female creators, change-makers, and influencers.
Me: Why are you an entrepreneur?
Dannie: Sense of belonging. When you build something that must get other people’s feedback in order to survive/grow, you are part of something. Creating that thing with a team of talented people is both a privilege and a mystery. I’m in it as a very curious individual.
Me: What problem would you like solved?
Dannie: Only one? I’m very big on productivity issues, so any problem in that area that can be solved and make everything more efficient for all of us. For now I’m focused on the invisibility problem of independent professionals. It bothers me that brave people who mastered a profession and built a business upon it are still invisible to their potential clients and communities.
Me: Advice you’d wished you’d had or had followed?
Dannie: Rules do not apply the same way to all. You have a huge part in choosing how you want to build your company, don’t take all advice as a rule, even if it comes from very smart people.
Me: What does success look like for you?
Dannie: Failures’ BFF. There are small moments along the way where I feel successful and that I know what success looks like. Those moments are very random and rare. It can be as simple as holding a business card of someone I really appreciate or as empowering as reaching a goal I set for myself. Either way, it is a short moment to take in and continue from to the next one.
Me: Who are your heroes?
Dannie: People who dedicate their life to being excellent at something they feel passionate about, preferably while staying humble.
Me: What is your best discovery?
Dannie: Authenticity wins. Always.
Me: What would the title of your biography be?
Me: What is your biggest regret?
Dannie: Not being true to myself 100% of the time.
Me: Anything else we should know about?
Dannie: We are currently looking for closed groups in NYC (companies, FB pages, associations etc) to enjoy our solution for free and bring more visibility to the best professionals around. Tell us what group you belong to at email@example.com
